Rotary was founded on fellowship, a concept that has been expanded internationally through the Rotary Fellowships, groups that bring together members from different cultures to enjoy a shared interest. The Rotaract Club of Mid Town firmly believes that fellowship is one the key factors that fosters lifelong friendships, fellowships keep members active in the movement, sustaining their interest and further inspiring commitment.

Hence embracing our roots from the past; Hopper Night is an annual yet traditional event organized for the past 38 years. It is also commonly known amongst the Rotaract Alumni and Past Midtowners as the original club service project among your fellow Rotaractors.

Keeping up with the Mid Town traditions, this year the Hopper Night was organized to host the past and present members of the Rotaract movement with authentic food and entertainment. On the 8th of December 2018 at the Highbury Residence, Colombo 07. It was an indulgence given to the past and present members of the Rotaract movement as a vote of thanks for their continuous support rendered and lifelong friendships.

The past and present DRR’s, District Committee, all Rotaract Clubs, past Presidents, sponsoring Rotary clubs and friends of Rotaract were present at the event. It was a night of entertainment, happiness, authentic food and fellowship. It was also a special evening as Rotaractors from around the island joined together for a fun filled night.

This year we hold a record participation of almost 165 participants from different clubs and an overwhelming participation from the district committee where everyone joined under one roof for lot of fun activities with good music, games and yes, hoppers and kottu to eat. The winners of the various games were rewarded with gift vouchers. Even though time has passed by with technology taking a role for entertainment, the event was fun filled with Rotaractors in their traditional attire to grace the event.

Hopper Night was definitely a night to remember this year for all the Rotaractors who participated.
