Beach pollution is known to be one of the biggest global concerns in the world. Beaches are becoming more and more polluted, hence why parents aren’t taking their children to beaches. Wildlife is greatly endangered by pollution causing issues like death or extinction. Animals are affected as much as humans. Litter and human waste contribute to marine and beach pollution, which dangers the environment causing harm to animals and humans.

Beach pollution not only affects the habitat of marine life; it also has effects on human hosts who are exposed to the wastes in put out in sea. Beach pollution is waste combined overtime to create/form a type of bacteria in which spreads illnesses.

‘WeLoveTheSea – Global activation’ an international beach cleanup was initiated by the Rotaract club of Bari Agora along with 5 South American and 4 East Asian districts in celebration of the World Rotaract week falling on the 12th-17th March 2019. This is a global concern hence it requires global action. We had active participation from 9 different districts worldwide which makes room for greater impact and with the objectives of promoting international understanding of the current global issue that the future generations will face.

Joining this global cause the Rotaract clubs of Colombo Mid Town, National School of Business Management and SLIIT on the 17th of March 2019 organized a beach clean-up at the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia strip started at 7am and went on until 11am when we had 30 junk bags, which were then separated into three categories: Degradable, Glass and plastic. The three clubs had over 50 Rotaractors and publics who joined hands for this worthy cause.

The WeLoveTheSea – Global Activation International beach cleanup video was released as a post event PR where the 9 different districts worldwide which made a greater impact is showcased.
