Having identified that it is challenging for community based clubs to sustain due to lack of new members joining. An open house event project idea was born. Mid Town Day is a project set to double up the membership of the club by encouraging each Midtowner in the club to bring one friend  each as a potential prospective on the day of the event.

The workshop consisted of Rotaract workshops, games and showcasing of project videos to the prospectives. The Rotaract workshops were conducted by Rtn PDG Thariq Thulba, Rtn Muzaffer Sadique and Past Rotaractor and PP Zayan Jeffrey who were all successful past Midtowners.

Having these beloved past members recount stories and achievements of their rotaract journey (for example: Rtn PDG Thariq looked back on one for the earliest meetings and projects he witnessed)  gives new members an authentic and honest idea of the potential of Rotaract while building a strong bond between old, new and prospective members.

The games were Rotaract inspired and a short movie was showcased towards the end of the event to wrap things up on a positive which will in turn to convince the prospectives to join the club. The video was a compilation of all of the club’s signature Community service and Club service projects.

The project was held on the 30th of Auggust 2018 at the ACBT auditorium and had a great turnout, bringing in 32 new prospectives of which 22 got inducted throughout the year and 5 new members went on to chair various projects for the year. Having that solid and personalized  foundation brought a great sense of belonging not just in Rotaract but within Colombo Mid -Town as well.
