Desi Raat – “THE NIGHT OF BOLLYWOOD” organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance took place on the 3rd of November 2019 at Cey – Nor Restaurant.

It was amazing to see an overwhelming crowd at 7 pm on Sunday when the event was scheduled to start at 8pm. Everyone were clicking away pictures moments before the most awaited Bollywood night started. The event kicked off with a dazzling and breath-taking performance with four charming girls from the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance. Everyone was captivated with the moves, they danced to Hindi songs and the applause burst out from the crowd! Next up was a song duet again performed by RAC UOC FMF, which was beautiful followed by an encore by the crowd. Next up the floor was open for everyone to dance. The DJ kept up the tempo and the crowd was all in showing their moves, some in the crowd were pulling off moves which were right off Bollywood movies and the night was just beginning. It was a houseful with an amazing crowd dancing the night off. The crowd was all at it with their Bollywood moves!

Dancing does drain away the energy and therefore it was time for some Indian food! It was buffet style, starting off with Rice, spicy chicken, chillie paste and a vegetable curry. Everyone was going at the food with gusto. Back to the dance floor, it was announced that 3 boys and 3 girls were to be chosen to be Desi King and Queen. That announcement was all that was needed to get the crowd back onto the dance floor! The DJ kept the crowd on their feet with a mix of all Bollywood songs. Finally, 3 boys and girls were chosen and then called upon the dance floor, each of them pulled off amazing dance moves but alas only one couple would be chosen as King and Queen. Rtr. Kavishanka from RAC ACBT was crowned as Queen and Rtr. Shuriaf was crowned as the Desi King after a fabulous performance and a roaring applause from the crowd.

The crowd wanted to be back at the dance floor and with no more interruptions. Few were at the photo booth taking pictures and creating memories. Slowly the night was coming to an end and everyone were handed sparkles (fireworks which can be held in the hand) to light up the night. It was a beautiful night to be remembered. The night was colorful and full of beautiful memories that can be cherished for a very long time. This event gave our souls and hearts a night to remember. It was indeed a blissful end to a very stressful week.
