The tournament was organized by the Rotaract clubs of Colombo Uptown, University of Colombo-faculty of arts, University of Kelaniya and Pearl Island was held on 12th November 2019 at St.Joeseph’s College basketball courts for the 8th year after 2017.
Once the tournament was announced our president Rtr.Nipun Alwis and our sports director Rtr.Abdul Khaliq made sure to motivate all the members who could play basketball to join the team to start our practice sessions. We had three practice sessions since everyone was busy during the day they made sure to join the practice session after work to get the team for the win.
Then it was the day, by 8 am all the teams were gathered at the courts for spot registration and the teams were separated into groups. Mid Town Bisons falling to group B had 2 games following with the second game in the tournament.
1st game was CINEC blues vs Mid Town Bisons started at 9.45. All the players encouraged each other to play well. During the game everyone wanted to show their potential against the fellow players. It was a good game half time the scores were tie then followed the second half. It was a good game, it was a tie and both teams were at their best to score more for the win. The gamed ended with a final score of: CINEC blues 20 – Mid Town 15.
Though we lost the 1st game, Mid Town Bisons were hungry for more. The second game was against the Rotaract Club of Negombo at 10.30am. The players were more motivated by the cheer leaders of the club who joined to cheer them on the day. Everyone was so energetic to show their best throughout the game. The final score for the game was: RACN 17 – Mid Town Bisons 10.
Mid Town Bisons enjoyed being a part of IRBT 2019. We sure learned a lot since we’ve been a bit out of touch. We sure are in it for good now. We now have weekly basketball practices and drills. Thank you IRBT for the great experience.
