Follow Us On

YES! You are reading the 50th Blog Article of Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town for year 2019/2020. You might think 50 is such a small number. But for us its BIG BIG number! This year we have published 50 articles including our bulletins and as the Secretary and the editor of the club, I am very proud and happy to see the journey we have come so far.

This year Mid Town website got a complete makeover by past Rotaractor Kemitha Jayamaha and now looks a very pretty lady. But this makeover was not easy. It was a slow process, we had to invest a lot of time and effort, but the outcome was worth it. This year we introduced many new sections to our blog such as the monthly and quarterly bulletins, the calendar, coverage of SDGs and the Mid Town value chain another innovation of the year. All these new features added more beauty to our website and no doubt that our readers also loved it. The love of our readers are evident from the 20,000 blog views we have got so far. Yes I repeat its 20,000 views. From the inception of the Mid Town website 4 years ago we only had 6,000 views. But BOOM, we got more than 14,000 blog views this year and it’s such a great feeling to see how far we have come within a matter of few months to be precise.

Life is not a bed of roses. We have ups and downs and we face many challenges while we go on. But the beauty of life is all about overcoming these challenges to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our website also faced many challenges. Many of you might have wondered what happened to the constant messages about our bulletins and articles which spammed all the WhatsApp groups. We went silent for almost two months. We went silent because our website fell sick due to a virus (a word we fear a lot these day). It was heart breaking to see our website vanish all of a sudden. But we fought back hard. Our very own PP Rtn. Zayan Jeffry and Rtr. Hamza Husair came to the rescue and worked tirelessly to bring our website back and the wait was super long while they worked their magic on our sick patient.

After two long months, the website came back to life beating the virus and now it’s back with a full swing! Few members of my club would bear witness to the happy tears I had when it came back to life and I should thank PP Rtn. Zayan Jeffry and Rtr. Hamza Husair for their time and effort put forward to bring our website back to action. It would be unfair if I don’t say thank you to Mr. President for tolerating me for two months constantly bearing my nagging about the website.

I also take this opportunity to thank all my lovely members of the club who have written, are writing and will be writing articles for our website. These achievements would not have been possible without you guys. Of course most members did not have a choice but to become writers as they were constantly nagged and threatened by me (not all of them I swear!). Cheers to these amazing set of talented writers we have in the club and you guys really made my dream come true of having an amazing blog to club. This is just the start of a long journey. Many obstacles will be faced in the future as well. But I am sure that my lovely members will work hard and would take the blog of Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town to greater heights in the future.

Good job Nipun ayya, Nadeera akki and team. I know how difficult it is to run the blog and achieve such a milestone. Have been following the blog and have found several interesting articles! All the best for the next major milestone!
