The installation ceremony of the 4th President Rtr. Shan Glingtan Rotaract Club of Peace City Hatton

In order to step into a new beginning with new excitements and challenges, the Rotaract Club of Peace City Hatton sponsored by Rotary Club of Wattala held their 4th installation ceremony of the President Rtr. Shan Glingtan and his Board of Directors on 23rd of August at Green Hill Retreat Centre, Kotagala and we were able to witness it virtually as it was broadcasted live through their club Facebook page.

In order to mark the beginning of this event, dignitaries were invited to light the traditional oil lamp. The Following dignitaries were invited to the head table Rtn. PHF. PP. Jude Surenthiran Co – DRCC, youth chairman Rtn. PHF. IPP. Rajalingam, President Rtn. PHF. Sekar of Rotary Club of Wattala, Rtr. Pathmasridharan President 2019-2020, DRR. Rtn. Kasun Sigera, President for 2020-2021 Rtr. Shan Glingtan. Then Sergeant-at-Arms called the house to order which was followed by the National anthem and the Rotaract Formalities; The Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation and the Four-Way Test.

The Chairperson of the installation ceremony Rtr. PP. Vibanjini warmly welcomed the gathering. Afterwards outgoing Secretary Rtr. Shan Glingtan presented the secretary’s report for the year 2019-2020. It was evident that they have completed a successful year through their worthy and valuable projects for their community and for their fellow members. 12 Community Service projects, 2 PR projects, 4 Club Service projects, 1 Finance, 3 Professional Development projects, 2 Environment projects, 3 International Service projects, 1 Peace and Reconciliation and 1 Rotaract day celebration and their significant projects were Courage is to learn, Golden leg and Think Pink.

Next, the Outgoing President Rtr. Pathmasridharan addressed the gathering and shared his experience about his journey as president and how he was able to pull off worthy projects and uplift the standard of the club along with his board and members. He also expressed his gratitude to all who supported and guided him.

Next on the agenda was the most anticipated moment as it was the time to introduce the incoming President. Rtr. PP. Vibanjini introduced the incoming president followed by collaring the incoming President Rtr. Shan Glingtan and handing over the gavel and charter certificate by the outgoing President Rtr. Pathmasridharan.

The newly inducted president addressed the gathering for the 1st time as the 4th President of the Rotaract club of Peace City Hatton, in his address he mentioned about his experience since the day he joined this club and how he was inspired by the work done by the rotaractors to the community. In his year of presidency, he will be focusing on strengthening the club membership, continuity of best work and projects and changing the community with development and positivity.

President Rtr. Shan Glingtan introduced his Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the year 2020-2021.

Next, the District Rotaract Representative Rtn. Kasun Sigera addressed the gathering, he appreciated the efforts done by the club to the community and he also emphasized on working together with other clubs despite the regional barriers and he also stated that he and his district steering committee will be supportive at all times. He also appreciated the facts about how actively the past presidents of the club are taking part in their projects and setting an example to other clubs. Finally, he congratulated the outgoing board and wished the incoming board for a productive year.

Afterwards Rtn. PHF. PP. Jude Surenthiran Co – DRCC for Nuwara Eliya addressed the gathering followed by Rtn. PHF. IPP. Rajalingam youth chairman addressed the gathering, he also presented the token of appreciation to the outgoing president for his great effort as well as to the incoming Secretary Rtr. Ramala and Director of community service Rtr. Dhanushan for their active participation in the past year. Next President of Rotary Club of Wattala Rtn. PHF. Sekar addressed the gathering and shared few words if wisdom.

Up next was the distribution of tokens for the dignitaries for gracing the occasion followed by the distribution of certificates to the members in order to recognize their active participation. Afterwards, the floor was opened for felicitation.

The Installation Ceremony came to an end with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Rtr. Ramala, the Secretary for the year 2020-2021 after which ceremony was adjourned for fellowship.

It was a great pleasure for us, the Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town to be part of this graceful event virtually and would like to extend our warm wishes to Rtr. Shan Glingtan and his Board of Directors for a great year ahead!
