The Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance (RAC UOC FMF) best known for their blogs and is a proud member of the Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town family. Their installation ceremony was held on the 3rd of October at the ICBT Auditorium, Colombo 04.
The ceremony commenced with the arrival of the dignitaries and the lighting of the oil lamp. The house was called to order by Sergeant-at-Arms Rtr. Melan Perera which was then followed by the National Anthem and the Conventional Rotaract formalities, the Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, Four-Way Test and the Rotaract Song.
Next, the Outgoing Secretary Rtr. Piyumi Abeywardhana delivered the secretary’s report for 2019-2020. During her report, she stressed on the fact that the club’s membership has increased exponentially with over 200 plus members. She then signed off as the Secretary for 2019-2020 with a video that showcased the highlights of the 9th year of this vibrant club. She ended her speech with this statement

“The 54 projects are a collection of big, small, inspirational, impactful and memorable moments and they all had a special objective connected to it”.
Following which the Outgoing President Rtr. Shehani Leo addressed the gathering for the last time as President of the Rotaract Club of UOC FMF. During her speech, she praised each and everyone in the club who helped her throughout her tenure as the President. And she further went to mention that she is happy to leave the club since it is now in capable hands and knows that the club will reach greater heights this year. This was followed by certificates to the outgoing board and individuals who helped her throughout. Immediate Past President Shehani Leo ended off her speech with this statement.

“Rotaract will always be special to us because it has helped us unleash our true potential while providing us with the opportunity to make lifelong friendships with individuals we will hold close to our hearts for the longest period of time”.

It was finally time for the new President’s speech. She spoke about her experience at the club and how amazing people are to volunteer in this movement offering their valuable time to help to a greater course. She then introduced her executive committee and Board of Directors.
Next to the podium were the dignitaries, District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Kasun Sigera and District Rotaract Chair Rtn. Amjath Yousuf, they both wished the President and her Board of Directors a great year ahead.
Rtn. PHF G. Sylvester took the podium next and congratulated the new President and offered a few words of wisdom. Following this, tokens of appreciation were handed to the dignitaries. Then the floor was opened for felicitations, the audience witnessed a long line for the felicitations and was full of positive comments and well wishes for the President and her Board of Directors.

“First of all I am very proud to stand here as a past member of FMF and see the journey that this club has come. Rtr. Leo, Rtr. Piyumi and the outgoing board. You guys have taken FMF another step higher. Both uncle and aunty are really happy. Congratulations for the achievements and an amazing year completed. And also Rtr. Leo, Rtr. Sahan and I are very sorry for making you lose your watch. President Rtr. Amina and the team, good luck for another successful year ahead”.
The installation was concluded with the Vote of Thanks given by Secretary Rtr. Kulani Salgado after which the ceremony was adjourned for fellowship and refreshments by President Rtr. Aamina Ismail.
It was indeed a pleasure for the Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town to be part of this occasion and would like to wish Rtr. Aamina Ismail and her Board of Directors to yet another “Outstanding” year ahead.
