The Installation Ceremony of the 2nd President Rtr. Duneshkanth and the Board of Directors of the Rotaract Club of Matale was held on the 25th of October virtually via Google Meets. We, MidTowners, witnessed this event and cherished the moment as they stepped into another amazing year of their Rotaract legacy.
The dignitaries and invitees were welcomed by the host Rtr. Y. Kishalini. The following dignitaries were present: Chief guest – Assistant District Secretary Rtn. PHF. IPP. Champa Perera, Guest of honour – Assistant District Governor Rtn. PHF. IPP. R. Sridharan, Keynote speaker – Rtn. Raj Gopal, and invitees – Youth Service Director Rtn. Sudhagaran, DRR – Rtr. Kasun Sigera, IPDRR – Rtn. Krishan Balaji, DRRE – Rtn. PP. Akhila Adheeshwara, Rotaract District Secretary – Rtr. PP. Kayalvili Mathavaram, Guide Club Coordinator 2020-2021 – Rtr. IPP. Charutha Dayarathne.
Next, the President for the year 2019-2020 Rtr. Logeshwaran called the Installation Ceremony to order which was followed by the Rotaract Formalities; The Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation and Rotary Four-Way Test.
To commence the proceedings, Project Chairperson of the Installation Rtr. Dineshtan welcomed the gathering. Afterwards, Outgoing Joint Secretary Rtr. Eswaran Duneshkanth presented the secretary’s report for the year 2019-2020. With guidance and support of Rtn. Sridharan (The Assistant Governor of the District and former president of the Rotary Club of the Matale 2019-2020), Immediate Past District Rotaract Representative Rtr. PP. Krishan Balaji, Rtr. Past President Mohamed Rehan(guide club coordinator for the year 2020 and 2021) they were able to charter the Rotaract Club of Matale.
It was evident that the past year has been a momentous and challenging year for them in which they managed to successfully initiate and complete worthy and impactful projects. Their noteworthy projects were Children’s day celebrations at a pediatric ward, an orientation program for the Rotaractors, An awareness program under the theme of “Say No To Plastic” at Raththota, a Club service project called ‘Maligawa Visit ‘, X-Mas Celebrations at Kohombiliwela Children’s Home Matale, a Rotaract Trip to Sigiriya and, “ Helping “, a Community service project to distribute dry rations to the affected people of the Pandemic.
Next, the Outgoing President Rtr. Logeshwaran addressed the gathering for one last time as the Inaugural President of Rotaract Club of Matale and he stated “Engaging in the benevolent and honorable movement of the world, Rotaract has undoubtedly provided the most effective services, through the Rotary Clubs. For the past year, we focused on the much-coveted opportunity to enhance the services to our Rotaract family to bring about positive changes and make a difference with the effective youngsters.”
“Make a Difference in promoting peace and harmony by attending to the needs of the vulnerable groups, by the provision of safe drinking water and sanitation needs, by creating job opportunities through vocational training and introduction of awareness, these are the many fields where the Rotaract Club of Matale has enriched among its members, and reached-out to our peoples in the remote areas in our District.”
He also expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who helped throughout his year. Finally, he concluded by quoting “න හි වේරේන වේරානි සම්මන්තීධ කුදාචනං අවේරේන ච සම්මන්තී ඒස ධම්මෝ සනන්තනෝ.”
The newly inducted President addressed the gathering for the 1st time as President and he shared his vision and mission and how he plans to strengthen the movement. Next, he introduced his Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the year 2020-21.
Next on the agenda was the address by the dignitaries; the District Rotaract Representative Rtn. Rtr. Kasun Sigera and Chief Guest Assistant District Secretary Rtn. PHF.IPP. Champa Perera
The event was concluded with the vote of thanks by Rtr. Praveena after which President Rtr. Duneshkanth officially adjourned the ceremony.
