One of the most dynamic and dedicated clubs in the Rotaract movement, the Rotaract Club of Achievers who have strived for greatness since it’s inception held their installation on the 29th of August at the CIDA Auditorium.

The dignitaries for the evening were invited to the lighting of the oil lamp and took their seats at the head table.

Rtr. Asel Gunaratne started proceedings with the Rotaract Formalities; the National Anthem, Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, Four-Way Test and the Rotaract Song.

The gathering was addressed by the two club service directors and project chairpersons Rtr. Mark Nesan and Rtr. Nethmi Lavanya. The secretaries report followed suit with the outgoing Secretary Rtr. Thisura Ramanayaka. He touched on how they have completed 89 projects last year which was the highest in the history of Rotaract Club of Achievers. Under the theme TO AVAIL AND TO THRIVE. The at team Achievers has completed 21 – Club Service, 25 – Community Service, 16 – International Service, 18 – Professional Development and 5 – PR projects. Most notable projects were the 7th edition of Conquer Colombo, Project Sneha, Project Life which has been a signature project over the years, Whispers of a Mockingbird and The Lounge, a project initiated this year is a series of interviews conducted with various people in different fields.

Next to the podium was the outgoing President Rtr. Sathma Jayasingha, she spoke about the awards Achievers had won at the last Rotaract District Assembly, such as most outstanding club, most outstanding president and more. She also added that she was proud to have come this far and to have completed such a monumental year in the history of Rotaract Club of Achievers. She also said that she valued the learning and she highly appreciated the past board for their efforts. She then thanked her parents for making her the courageous and strong woman she is today for her to complete her Presidency on a high note.

Next on the agenda was the introduction of the new President followed by the collaring of the incoming President and the handing over of the gavel and the charter certificate. 

President Rtr. Thisura Ramanayake took the podium for the first time as President. His theme for the year is REACH BEYOND. He also addressed the fact that the Rotaract Club of Achievers will focus mainly on member development as members are the backbone of every club, skill development and making an impact in the community and among their members. Next, he introduced the BOD 2020-2021:

Following which, each of the dignitaries took the podium and congratulated and shared few words of wisdom to the incoming President and his BOD and wished them a successful year ahead. Tokens of appreciation we’re handed out to the dignitaries by President Rtr. Thisura Ramanayake.

The secretary for the year 2020-2021 Rtr. Suwithi Karunasekara gave a very heartfelt vote of thanks to the audience and thanked everyone who joined them. President Rtr. Thisura Ramanayake concluded the installation for felicitations and fellowship. Rtr. IPP Sathma Jayasingha got a very personal felicitation from someone very special.
