The installation ceremony of the 12th President Rtr. Sanduni Hettigoda and the board of directors of the Rotaract Club of Panadura was held on the 26th of July 2020 at the Saffron Beach Hotel and the ceremony was also broadcasted live on YouTube and Facebook.
The event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest and other dignitaries and the lightning of the traditional oil lamp. The chief guest of the event was Rtn. PP Asitha De Silva, the past president of the Rotary Club of Panadura 2014-15 and the Guest of honor & Keynote speaker for the evening was Rtn. PHF. GS Silvester
The ceremony was called to order by the outgoing president Rtr. IPP Shihan De Silva and followed by the Rotaract invocation, Flag salutation, Four-way test, and the Rotaract song. The secretary’s report for the year 2019-20 was presented by the outgoing secretary Rtr. Sanduni Hettigoda which included 8 Community service projects, 5 Club service projects, 2 Professional Development projects, 2 International service projects and 1 peace and reconciliation project.
Then the outgoing president Rtr. IPP Shihan De Silva addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts and thanked each and everyone who supported him to complete a successful year.
The outgoing president Rtr. IPP Shihan De Silva collared the incoming president Rtr. Sanduni Hettigoda and officially handed over the duties and the responsibilities of the club.
Then the new president Rtr. Sanduni Hettigoda addressed the gathering and briefed the audience with her year plan. Next, she introduced the new Board of Directors for the year 2020-2021
DRR Rtn. PP. Kasun Kavindra Sigera was then invited to address the gathering. He congratulated the new President and the Board of the Directors and recognized the efforts of Rtr. IPP Shihan De Silva. This was followed by a speech from the Rotaract District Secretary Rtr. PP. Kayalvili Mathavaram.
Next, the podium was taken by the guest of honor & keynote speaker Rtn. PHF. PP G.S Sylvester. This was followed by an address by the Chief Guest Rtn. PP Asitha De Silva for the evening. After handing over the tokens of appreciation, the floor was open for felicitations. The installation ceremony was concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by the secretary for 2020-2021 Rtr. Savani Jayawickrema. We, the Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town would like to convey best wishes to Rotaract Club of Panadura to thrive towards the pinnacle in the upcoming journey while striving as one!
