Public speaking, it allows us to form connections, influence decisions, and motivate change. Without communication skills, the ability to progress in the working world and in life, itself, would be nearly impossible. Public speaking is one of the most important and most dreaded forms of communication.

Having identified that it is one of the most dreadful forms of communications and also public speaking is vital for young leader. We aim to produce many leaders from the Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town hence the project ‘Rotaractor’s Minute’.

A project which has been taking place for the past 10 years within the club to encourage members to take part in public speaking. After every meeting a member is picked to talk about anything they wish to speak which can be informative and entertaining to the crowd. In the absence of a topic the crowd picks a title or an argument which the speaker is challenged to speak in. We have been able to spot several talented individuals through this program and encouraged to open themselves to public speaking.

We feel that this project is a great opportunity which allows members to showcase their public speaking skills. Many Midtowners have felt the outcome of this project, throughout the passing years.
