Fourth initiative of our peace and reconciliation long-term project.

A unique project where each child in the home receives a gift that she desires from a Secret Santa Claus. This is the 3rd consecutive year of Secret Santa. This year it was held at Shilpa Child Development Center on the 16th of December 2018.

Prior to the day of the project, our team visited the orphanage to meet the girls and get some insight on their perfect christmas gift. It was mostly shampoo, makeup, dolls and hairclips.

All of the wishes were written down with name and age. So, that the secret santas have a better idea when buying the gift.

Following that, posters were developed and shared on social media and whatsapp to gather Santas. 20 Santas were required, within two weeks all the gifts were collected and wrapped. On the day of the project,a Christmas brunch was organized. We ordered Christmas treats, sang carols and played games. Lastly, the girls were called out one by one and gifts were distributed by a Santa Claus.

Project Objectives:

–  To reach out to the children in a very personal way, by giving them exactly what they wished for Christmas, rather than common products, like clothes or stationery, that they usually get offered as donations

–  As a community service initiative to involve all races and religions, where we organize a project to celebrate one festival from each religion practiced in the country
