The limelight of PR in Rotaract

In the early 2010s, the tech geeks were still shouting from the rooftops about how the internet would connect us all and create a more liberal global community.

Smartphones hit critical mass. Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and Snapchat and YouTube were connecting all of us with such ease that we already take for granted the fact that we can instantly connect with just about anyone, just about anywhere in the world—for free.

Yesterday I logged on to YouTube, to see a story of a 100-year-old woman who has never seen the ocean before. Then 7 ways I can totally know that I am a 90s kid! Then mainstream Rotaract videos with exciting content, bringing back a lot of memories!

This is life now: one constant, never-ending stream of content that passes in through our eyes and out of our brains at the speed of a touchscreen

In retrospection, we would have been smart to doubt that if, we in Rotaract are making use of the true potential of Social Media! Are we truly using it as a tool to show the world what Rotaract is?

Imagine this: There is a channel on YouTube that operates like Netflix! A channel that continues to bring to you enthralling and beneficial content on a regular basis, not only from the Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid Town but the entire Rotaract community! Content that can be watched, enjoyed, and benefited, by not only the Rotaractors but also everyone else, in fact, inspiring them to join the Rotaract movement!

The channel, at one point in the future, would have everything you want to know about Rotaract, and perhaps even more! In a sense, it would be a streaming network, bringing out the true potential of Rotaract, reaching out to people than ever before!

Inaugurating the paradigm shift of Rotaract PR, opening opportunities for Rotaractors all around the Island, Rotaract TV takes its steppingstone with a vision for the next 5 years and more!

Stay Tuned!
